Afterthoughts

Tallahassee Quilters Unlimited (Art of Color Blending Lecture and Anything Goes Star Tessellation and Diamonds are Girls Best Friend Workshops)

I was the program chair and I had booked her, not knowing anything about her except what she had on her site, that she had the dates I needed he free and that she was willing to do a retreat. But, let me tell you this was one of the best instructors I have booked over the past two years.

At the lecture, she had our attention the moment she started. She was informative, personable and entertaining. The quilts she brought with her were beautiful, and appropriate for the lecture and the classes we had planned;

We had our retreat the two following days, she was informative and helpful. She never sat down. She helped with ironing, cutting and ripping out, etc. She had given us precutting instructions so the entire day could be spent sewing.

At the end of the retreat, all of us felt that I had made a very good choice and I feel very comfortable recommending her.

Burke Quilters Unlimited (Make Mine with Scraps Lecture)

Thank you so much for the fabulous talk and show of your gorgeous quilts. I came away from the lecture with so many ideas to use in my future quilts. You truly are an inspiration to quilters. I am a lover of scrap quilts and will start using up lots of scraps after seeing your quilts tonight! I just love your work!

Your lecture was so inspiring. You had great ideas for taking some control over one's stash - I can't wait to get started. Your backings - wow - what a wonderful way to use up fabrics. Thanks for so many good ideas!

Shenandoah/Valley Quilt Guild (Art of Colour Blending Lecture and Spinning Wheels Workshop):

I just wanted to tell you that my twin sister and I really enjoyed your program at the SVQG, in Apirl. It inspired us to use lots of colors with our needlework/wallhangings. The use of Reds or any color was very interesting.

We do a lot of our designs and appreciate your approach to quilting. It made us want to do more with our designs. So Thank You, Thank You. And I hope you'll come back and do another program in the valley. You have won both of us over, we think you're great.

Southhampton Middle School (Dyeing to Know How that Color Wheel Really Works):

Thank you so much for your day-long presentation last Tuesday. The kids arestill talking about it! Some came in Tuesday asking for eggs. Hope we didn't wear you out too much!

Bayside Quilters (Art of Colour Blending Lecture and Batik Star Tessellation Workshop):

You can not imagine how popular your program and workshop (and you personally) were. I have had more feedback on you than any meeting in my two years as program chairman. You were LOVED! I also saw your ad for EQ in one of my newest magazines--excellent. One of the feedbacks I got was from someone who is using your pyramids to make curtains for her kitchen and another who was inspired by your haiku book to use haikus as a project for her daughter's class. We took a bus trip to Lancaster the next day and the talk on the bus was all Gyleen...I know you will be hearing from us in the next few weeks to set the date for next year's visit. Thanks again for a great program and workshop--you made my job easy.

Cluster Spires Quilt Guild (Quilts: Unfinished Stories with New Endings Lecture)

Our guild really enjoyed Gyleen’s lecture; she was articulate, funny, and inspiring. The stories of her quilts and experiences had the membership enraptured. Once again we have been inspired to use what we have, dig into the scrap heap and get rid of that fabric; plus suggestions on borders and how to make a block fit when it doesn't. You have inspired us to use colors we are not comfortable with. We loved the back of your quilts as much as the front and appreciate suggestions on using all those scraps. Keep those ideas coming! We’re looking forward to our fall workshop.
